Maritime Law Association conference update

Dawson and Associates attended the 2025 MLAANZ (Maritime Law Association of Australia and New Zealand) NZ Conference last week in Auckland, to hear about developments in maritime law, connect with colleagues, and gain deeper insights into trends in maritime legal matters in New Zealand and overseas.

This year’s conference had a range of speakers with notable subjects being health and safety matters in New Zealand following the Whakaari White Island prosecution and insurance limitation regimes for cargo shippers.

MLAANZ is an exciting opportunity to deepen understanding of developments in maritime law, and Peter, Troy and Petrina all finished the conference with renewed confidence in their expertise and ability to represent and assist clients in the maritime sector. We are all looking forward to integrating our learnings into our work and products and look forward to what the next year of maritime legal developments will bring.

If you have any questions or matters involving the maritime sector, be it a vessel sale and purchase, yacht ownership structures, vessel build contracts, or maritime health and safety or cargo and insurance, please do not hesitate to contact Peter Dawson on +64 27 229 9624 peter@maritimelaw.co.nz or Troy Stade on +64 27 368 6730 troy@maritimelaw.co.nz.
