Isla joined Dawson & Associates as a graduate after completing her Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts at Victoria University of Wellington.
Since joining the team, she has developed experience across a range of maritime, commercial and litigation matters, including vessel transactions, customs and regulatory issues, commercial agreements and dispute resolution. This has provided Isla with the opportunity to work across diverse matters and develop an understanding of the legal and commercial considerations facing clients.
Her studies in sociology, criminology and anthropology have fostered a genuine curiosity about people and the wider context behind each matter, shaping the thoughtful approach she brings to her legal practice. Isla enjoys the complexity and variety of maritime law, particularly where commercial, regulatory and practical considerations intersect.
Raised in Nelson, Isla enjoys making the most of New Zealand’s outdoor lifestyle. Outside of work, she can often be found running, training at the gym, cooking, or spending time with family and friends.
