M/V Southern Cross – Vessel Sale Managed by Dawson & Associates

Dawson & Associates is pleased to have assisted with another successful vessel sale and purchase transaction. The Southern Cross was owned and flagged in the Solomon Islands and temporarily imported into New Zealand under a Temporary Import Entry (TIE).

Against an uncertain backdrop regarding Customs’ evolving approach to the sale of vessels in New Zealand while under a TIE, this transaction highlighted the importance of having experienced maritime specialists guiding the process. Dawson & Associates navigated these complexities to conclude the transaction.

We extend our thanks to both parties for their patience and professionalism throughout the process, and to the brokers at 37 South for their commitment and collaboration in seeing the transaction through to closing.

The Southern Cross is a 45-metre expedition vessel originally constructed in Japan in 1996 for the Japanese Government as a scientific research vessel. Since then, she has been repurposed for a range of operations, and we look forward to seeing her continue her legacy in scientific exploration and data collection under her new ownership.
